In the solitude of this mountain, the Prophet ﷺ would retreat to reflect — until the night the angel Jibreel came with the first revelation. Everything that followed, from Makkah to the ends of the earth, began on these slopes.

Fits a few at a time
The cave itself is small — a hollow in the rock where one man sat alone with his thoughts, and left carrying a message for all mankind. Expect a short wait in busy seasons; the smallness is part of what moves people.

Moderate, rocky
A stepped, well-trodden path winds to the summit at around 640 meters — easier than Jabal Thawr, and climbed daily by pilgrims of all ages. Proper shoes, water, and a dawn start make it a beautiful walk rather than an ordeal.

From the summit, Makkah spreads out toward the Haram — the city the message first reached, seen from the place it arrived. Most climbers say the view reframes everything they’ve read about the Seerah.

The mountain’s silhouette alone tells the story. Stand at the base, hear what happened above, and make dua — a complete and moving visit on level ground, minutes from the car.
